Micah: A Toddler Devotion on Justice

“And what does the Lord require of you, but to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with your God.” -Micah 6:8

I feel like this is one of the most quoted verses in modern Christianity. But what does all that really mean for us today? For this devotion, we listened to a song to help us memorize this verse, and followed up with books that teach us how to pursue justice.

Song

We listened to Micah 6:8 by Charlie Hall. This song puts the verse to music, and also talks about what it actually means to live-out this verse.

Books

We then read books that talk about social justice and how to pursue it today. You can see a list of our favorites in: 10 Picture Books About Human Rights and Social Justice. We will be reviewing this devotion on Election Day when I take the girls to vote.

Prayer

Finally, we pray for justice in our communities. The Prayer Journal from Yahweh’s Light has some fantastic prompts for littles to pray against injustic in our communities in an age-appropriate way. The journal is free. So there is really no excuse to not pick up a copy.
