The story where Jesus resurrects Lazarus has so many beautiful elements. It brings back our friend Martha, and really redeems her character. Jesus weeps, and we see God’s heart for humanity. And, finally, Lazarus is resurrected, and Jesus prophesies about his own resurrection, and his plans to heal humanity. Here is how we played through this story.
The Story
We read the story of Jesus resurrecting Lazarus in our baby Bible (John 11:1-44). Then we made the following craft.
Lazarus Craft
We made our own Lazarus. To be honest, this is jus a simple, classic mummy craft, but when you think about it, Lazarus probably did look a little like a mummy coming out of the tomb with his burial clothes on.
What you need:
- Paper tube
- Gauze
- Googly eyes
- White Glue
1. Put glue all over paper tube. Your child can help. Squeezing the glue bottle builds fine-motor skills.
2. Have your child wrap gauze around the paper tube.
3. Finally, glue on some googly eyes!
