Fun fact about me: I LOVE a good love story. That's probably why I love the book of Ruth. Though this isn't your typical boy meets girls....it's more like girl travels with mother-in-law to a faraway land. Girl takes care of mother-in-law by picking up leftovers in her mother-in-law's second cousin's grain field. Second cousin hears about girl's kindness to her mother-in-law and falls for her....ok yup, you get it. It's a little more complicated, but the heart of the story is love. True love: caring about someone more than you care about yourself. It's the love Ruth showed to Naomi, when she followed her to a foreign land to take care of her. It's the love Boaz showed to Ruth when he invited her, a widow and a foreigner, to sit at his table. And even more so when he married her, and made her family. Ok, now who else has all the feels?🙋‍♀️ ❤ .... You can check out how this grain bin went up in my stories👆. Ruth collected grain, Boaz had a grain field....what can I say? This is Samson. It's #laundryday over here, meaning we're taking our weekly trip to the laundromat, and I thought, what better story to pair with laundry day, then Joseph and his coat of many colors. This is totally a repeat activity from this summer. But guess what. The kids still LOVED it! Sometimes, it really is the simple things that capture the most attention. Can we just take a minute to talk about how Esther is basically the #disneyprincess of the Bible. Normal girl gets selected to be queen. A girl ends up being the hero of the story. There's a whole bunch of stuff in the original that you're probably not ready to discuss with your 3 year-old...(anyone else listen to the latest episode of the @thebiblebinge ?). Ok, but back to my point. Esther is one of my favorite stories of the Bible, and not just because of the serious #girlpower vibes. At the heart of the story is the truth that God is always working. We may not necessarily see his hand, or understand what he is doing until after the fact. However, he is always there, working in the details to bring about good. Whatever your situation today, friend, you can trust that God is working behind the scenes for your good and for his glory. 🙌 . .... ❤And on that note, for real, is anyone else listening to this next season of @thebiblebinge ?
