Isn't it a joy when #instafriends become #irlfriends ? Today we got to play with Alyssa and Hans from @withharpandlyre at the @mn_arb (Free admission every 3rd Monday 🎉) I always love conversations with Alyssa whether via the internet or real life. It's #bakingfriday and Vale has been begging me to make an Apple pie. So I thought I'd seize the opportunity to make my toddler happy, mark off "apple" on our #kidsplaytruth bingo, and tell you all my favorite way to explain the Trinity to small children. . ...... 1. Grab a pie (you can see our "cooking show" up in my stories👆). This pie represents God. 2. Cut the pie into 3 slices. Each is still the same pie, just a different part. . ..... This analogy works best with children that have already started asking questions about the Trinity, specifically how is our God 3 persons, but still 1 God. It really can feel so complex, even to our adult minds. However this is one way to make a complex subject a little more tangible. It may just click. Or, it still may go over there heads, but if it does, at least everyone got to eat pie 😘🥧 . ..... ❤What ways have you explored the Trinity with children? . . . . . . "The best thing you can do to help your kids follow Jesus is to fall in love with Jesus yourself." -George Ady . ..... That's my dad. And he's not wrong. Maybe you want to do activities to teach your little ones about the Bible, but you're just tired and don't know where to start. Maybe you feel guilty that you don't read a Storybook Bible with your kids everyday. Maybe you are doing all the things to guide your child spiritually, and you are just wondering if it's enough. Take heart, friend. "His yoke is easy, and his burden light" (Matthew 11:30). The best way you can point your kids to Jesus is to love Jesus yourself. And He is enough. Where we are weak, he is strong. Where we fail, he brings wholeness. Where we feel shame, he gives joy. We have a father who loves us, and he loves our littles more than we ever could. You are seen, you are known, and you are loved. ❤Take some time to rest today, friend.

Right after I graduated from college, I had the amazing opportunity to spend the summer in India. I have so many, many memories of the amazing people I met there, but one sticks out this #worldlovewednesday. The leader of the organization I was visiting shared about the diya. A diya is a small oil lamp, and it symbolizes the purest of light that defeats all darkness and evil. She continued saying that for her, this symbolizes Jesus, the light of the world. As we are sipping chai and reading books about Indian culture, we thank Jesus that he is the light of the world, making all things right. And he has put his light in our hearts that we may shine for him. May his light illuminate all darkness in our lives so that we may be pure, as he is pure, that others may be drawn to him. ❤Do you have tea time where you're at? Marking off "Proverbs" on our #biblebingo using Proverbs 3:5-6 : . ..... "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your path straight." . ..... To play with this verse, I drew a "path" on a piece of paper. The path had zig-zags, curves, and swirls, and then ended with a straight line. I had the girls follow the path with dot stickers. 🔴🔵🔴🔵 Vale worked on putting the stickers in a line, on the line, working left-to right ➡️. Naomi just worked on putting the stickers on the page (fine motor skills🙌, and totally age-appropriate not to put them on the line). . ..... Afterwards we talked about how following God is like walking on a path. We may not always know where we are going. Some situations seem tricky, but when we trust him, and do our best to follow him, we can trust he will guide us where we need to be. ❤Friend, in this season, you are where you need to be. Quiet mornings. A fresh cup of coffee giving off steam and my Bible open on the table. The first rays of sun streaming through the window. Peace. These were my mornings, set aside to be with the Lord. And then I had little ones, and no matter how early I wake up, if I'm awake, my kids are awake. I'm sure it's science. And as my mornings filled with little ones needing snuggles, breakfast, and love, my morning Bible time became non-existent. I had two choice, give up Bible reading, or adapt. So I adapted. My "quiet time" isn't necessarily quiet any more, but I have found tools and ways to keep my Bible reading even in these little years. On the blog you will find the tools I have found helpful for me.
