Starting a little late, but we have our @jesus_storybook_bible Lent chain ready for the season. Lent totally snuck up on me this year 🙈anyone else?🙋‍♀️ Lent isn't a tradition I grew up with, but it's a tradition that has really fed my soul as an adult. I love simple resources like this that help me share the sacredness of Lent with my littles. What about you? Tell me your Lent thoughts and plans. Are you fasting anything? Wrapping up #worldlovewednesday for February, I had to share one of my all time favorite books: 'God's Very Good Idea' by @trillianewbell . This book is a beautiful way to share the Gospel with little ones. God made a perfect world where we all would love one another, however sin has left this world broken. Yet Christ has come to restore the world to God's good plan, and he invites us to be apart of that redemptive work. Whether you are 3 or 33, this book will speak to your soul. ❤ . We had repeatedly borrowed this book from our local library, but a few weeks ago I was tickled to win a copy from @teachtalkwalk ! So thanks for adding this treasure to our bookshelf, Hannah! . Does your library have this book yet? Who else has been favoring their local library over Amazon this year? 🙋‍♀️

Imagine you're out-and-about with your littles. It's a joy you were actually able to get out of the house this morning. That's when you're little-one delivers a blow-out. You herd your crew of tiny humans to the closest bathroom, and start digging through your diaper bag for supplies. That's when you realize your out of wipes🤦‍♀️ Don't tell me I'm the only one that's had this happen🙈. Actually, I know I'm not, because @onmissionmoms shared that she has also ridden this struggle-bus, and shared a brilliant way to encourage other moms who have wound up in this predicament. Her #momsquad got together left some travel-sized wipes at public changing stations for moms in need. For our next #purposefulplaydate we'll be following her lead. I had planned to post about this beautiful book on Valentine's Day, because, well...you know that's the day we're supposed to talk about love. But the flu made us slow down a bit, and we're playing a bit of catch up... so Happy Monday! Let's start the week by talking about God's Love. "Love Made" by @quina_aragon is a book about creation, but not just creation. It is a book of God's eternal, overflowing love pouring out and that birthing creation. And how that love continues to overflow. Quina Aragon is an award-winning spoken-word artist and this book does not fall short of those accolades. If you are a fan of poetry tea times and/or introducing your littles to great minds of the times, this read will make an excellent addition to your library. ❤Have you had the joy of reading this book yet? Anyone else playing catch up from a cold?

"You cannot be afraid if you want to accomplish anything. You got to have the willing, the spirit and above all, you got to have the get-up." Georgia Gilmore . Georgia Gilmore is an amazing example of using what you have to make a difference. Leading the "The Supper Club from Nowhere" her group sold pies, cakes, sandwiches, and more to fund the Montgomety Bus Boycott. It could be said that the Montgomery Bus Boycott could not have been sustained without her influence. Though she was an important leader, she often an unsung hero of the civil-rights movement (I am embarrassed to say I had not heard of her until I found this book). But we're changing that by reading "Pies from Nowhere" by Dee Romito and snacking on Georgia's Pound Cake recipe (included in the book). The Zinn Education Project did a review of this book and included some good discussion point for parents when reading this book (link in bio). ❤Anyone else doing some #bookishplay today?

"He numbers the stars, and calls them by name." -Psalm 147:4 . The God of the universe gives so much attention to detail, that he not only numbers, but names every. Single. Star. And they shine for Him. And as glorious as the stars are, you are his precious child, and are so much more precious than ALL the stars. . To play through this story, we borrowed an activity from @simpleplay.withsteph . I numbered stars from 1-10 and we practiced jumping from star-to-star in sequence. We also read about another little girl who danced among the stars and shined with all of her God-given talents.
