Pentecost is coming up, so I know you all are probably searching for books about the Holy Spirit to share with your family and Sunday School classes. So I’ve done a little round up of the ones I personally have read and loved. The Holy Spirit can be a tricky subject to tackle, especially with little ones. However, I have read through all of these, and think they are fantastic options to introduce your child to the Holy Spirit.

Love Can
This whole series from Quina Aragon is fantastic. I love the way she explains how the Holy Spirit works in our lives through her beautiful poetic style. This is the third in this series about the Trinity. Be sure to also check-out Love Made and Love Gave.

Josey Johnson’s Hair and the Holy Spirit
This beautiful book not only celebrates the diversity in how God made people, but shows that Pentecost was a sign that the Kingdom of God is made of every nation, tribe, and tongue.

The Holy Spirit
This board book is perfect for families that love the board book genre that introduces little to big words. This one introduces littles to words like ‘Pentecost,’ ‘Trinity,’ and ‘Conviction.’ This one is also available in Spanish: Espíritu Santo.

The Big Red Tractor and the Little Village
This allegorical tale shows the Holy Spirit through the story of a village planting and harvesting with their big red tractor. Here’s the catch: to use the tractor they have to push and pull it down the field. But they don’t know any better. They think that’s how the tractor is supposed to work. Then one day, Farmer Dave discovers a long-lost book in the attic that changes everything. This book shows the difference between working by ourselves and working with the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Ghost Is Like A Blanket
This sweet book shows the many ways the Holy Spirit functions in our lives by comparing the Spirit to physical objects. This can be so helpful for young children when discussing a topic so abstract.
‘The Holy Ghost is like the wind, you can’t see him, but you can feel him in your heart as he helps you choose right.’
‘The Holy Ghost is like a star, he guides you toward Heavenly Father.’
There is a read-aloud version of this one on YouTube if you would like to preview before purchasing: ‘The Holy Ghost is Like a Blanket’ Read Aloud.
