A Toddler Devotion on Friendship

One thing I want my children to carry with them is that Jesus is the best friend they could ever have. He is faithful. He loves them. He cares.

Friends may come and go, but Jesus is always with us. And because we have experienced his loving kindness, it can help us be good friends.

Read:

As we learn about friendship, we are working on memorizing Proverbs 18:24.

There are “friends” who destroy each other, but a real friend sticks closer than a brother.‘ Proverbs 18:24 (NLT).

Jesus is a friend that is more faithful than even our family. And he empowers us to be good friends as well.

Jesus is my Friend by Sherelle Gaston (Spanish version: Jesús es mi Amigo) is a fantastic resource for helping littles see how Jesus is with us throughout our days, and that he cares about us.

Pray:

Lead your little ones in the following prayer, or say your own:

Dear Jesus, thank you for being the best friend ever. Help me to love my friends like you love me. Amen

Craft:

Friendship bracelets are a classic craft, and a great way for littles to practice contemplative prayer.

What you need:

-String or pipecleaners

-Beads

What you do:

Have your child thread beads onto string or pipe cleaner to make a bracelet for a friend. You can either send the bracelet to your friend with a note saying you’re praying for them, or give them the bracelet next time you see them.

While making bracelets you may choose to listen to some of the following songs:

Dios es mi Amigo

My Best Friend

There is a Friend

Jesús Mi Fiel Amigo

Alado de Jesús
