When a centurian asked Jesus to heal his servant, Jesus said “bring me to him.”
However the centurian replied, “Lord, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof, but only say the word, and my servant will be healed” (Matthew 8:8, ESV). Jesus was in awe of the man’s faith, and sent him home where he found his servant healed. Today we explored this verse simply, but in a way that hopefully will build your child’s faith.
First we read the story in our baby Bible. We talked about how Jesus healed a man he had never seen or met.
Then we prayed for some friends and family we know are sick. One of our friends has cancer, and we pray for him on the regular. My daughter is 2, so I don’t go into details. We simply look at pictures of him, and I explain that he is sick. Then we take a few seconds to pray for him. “Dear God, please take care of (friend’s name), in Jesus name, Amen.” I’m a firm believer in not giving kids more than they are developmentally able to handle. That includes walking them through prayer.
